3000 yd swim

It was a beautiful morning. I arrived at the pool before sunrise which is my absolute favorite. It was dark and with the chill in the air now that fall has officially arrived there were no others brave enough for the outdoor pool. I donned my swim cap to keep the heat inside my head and dove in. The water felt warm against the cool desert air. I got a good 20 minutes into my workout before the sun bathed the sky in a gorgeous purple glow. The air was still and quiet. I swam in solitude, enjoying the water and the time to be inside my own head. I finished 3000 yards and headed inside to the hot tub just as another swimmer was heading outside. (I've mentioned him before- the Navy Seal swimmer guy). We exchanged greetings and laughed about the fact that these Arizonans thought the weather had gotten too cold for the outdoor pool (he's also from the midwest). I love this time of year. No competing for lanes. Beautiful weather. Dark mornings. A perfectly zen start to another day.
