Break from training...

Four weeks from Boston and what do I decide to do? Tile 500 square feet of my home. Oops.

I've never claimed to be smart. I am intelligent, yes, but I don't often make the best decisions. But when my cousin said he had the week off for spring break I thought, no problem! What the hell was I thinking?

After 6 days of excruciating, back-breaking work (mostly on his part... I only helped for 2 full days and 4 half days)... one room is finished and the second (slightly smaller) room is dry fit. I figure I have about 3 full days of work left... which will likely be stretched out over the next 6 months.

I've tiled before. Only last time, my dad was foreman and I just followed orders. It's a lot harder when you have to be creative about it. For example, the tile in the kitchen did not line up with the tile in the hallway. But our project would tile the living room which lies between them. So a border was placed around the living room. Not easy. Not fun. I swear it took me an hour to design a 6 inch square where the border lines didn't match so that the design would look continuous.

After a week of not working out, eating like crap, working 11 hour days at work and then 3-4 hours at night on my hands and knees.... let's just say, the finished project is amazing... but I will never, ever do it again. Ever.

Never. Did I say that already?

Anyhoo, I am back to training in time to taper for Oceanside this weekend. I started Sunday off with a long run with some good friends. 20 miles goes by so much faster and easier when you have someone to chat with! Can't wait to start marathon/ Ironman training cause now I have a training partner! After Oceanside it'll be last 3 week push before the big day. The day I've waited 2 years for. The day I've imagined during every run for the past 5 years. My dream will finally come true.
