Last Minute Thoughts

It has been the longest and shortest three days of my life. Friday morning we got up at 4 am to catch our early flight to Dallas. We ran to catch our flight to Boston and arrived to our connecting gate just as they were calling our group to board. Upon arriving in Boston, we were descending the escalator to baggage claim and were greeted by my sister belting out Dixie Chick's Ready to Run at the top of her lungs. I joined in the chorus and we all hugged and headed out into the cold to catch a cab.

After checking into our hotel we ran across the street to pick up our race packets. This turned out to be a really really good idea as the lines on Saturday and Sunday were outrageous. We literally walked in and picked up our bibs, t-shirts, goody bags, and shopped the official gear and were out the door in about 30 minutes. The shopping part was fairly simple cause I just bought everything. Seriously. I have been waiting for two years to get here. I will never have to leave the house again without something labeled Boston Marathon on.

We had a nice liesurely dinner with the family and several bottles of wine to go with our lobster. After a long nights sleep, we were up late on Saturday, ran 3 miles, had breakfast and then it was off for some sightseeing. Unfortunately I spent a little too much time on my feet on Saturday but I've been trying to compensate with a little extra time on my ass today.

So far I haven't been nervous about tomorrow morning. I kinda wish I was. Nervous. Excited. It still doesn't feel real. Tonight I'll go through some visualization and try to prepare mentally for the race. Tomorrow morning we're up at 5 am, out the door by 6 to catch the bus and be shuttled to Hopkinton. My wave starts at 10:30 am, and with the SkirtChaser and my little sis by my side we will journey 26.2 miles into Boston to the cheers of the crowd.
